Parents poll on pandemic public school performance problematic.
Emerson College, in conjunction with the Pioneer Institute, just rolled out the findings from their polling roughly 1,500 parents as to their thoughts on how things went for their children during pandemic restrictions.
At best, the views of parents about the performance of their children’s schools and teachers at best tracked on a curve, a but normal distribution Bell Curve.
Unfortunately, absent data on what parents’ thought about their children’s schools and teachers BEFORE the pandemic, the Emerson/Pioneer poll did not provide any insights as to if things might or might not be different from before the pandemic hit the fan.
In the fact, the only arguable at best differential that could be validly pondered from the data is what parents thought about what impact teacher unions might have had on their children’s education given the impact on the pandemic and generally the views skewed towards the negative.
Some parents were also strongly considering holding their children back in school for the upcoming school in the fall.
And finally, as well as in the category of the keen sense of the obvious, parents were very much unsatisfied over the lack of socialization of their children during the pandemic.
