Becker College closing at the end of the current school year.

The Worcester-based college with a 227-year history and thus one of the 25 oldest educational institutions in the United States is the latest lesser college to close up shop as college enrollment levels.  While better schools can lower their standards a bit and so weather the storm, schools at the bottom of the heap end up with the short straw.

Fortunately, this college appears to have a solid closing plan.  Most students will be relocated to other programs at other schools to complete their degrees and many college faculty and employees are expected to be placed in new gigs elsewhere.

Additionally, as the college has some real estate to sell off as well as something left in its bank account, its closing should play out reasonably smoothly as far as covering the college’s closing costs nut goes.
