Expected snowfall in Eastern Massachusetts increases to up to as much as a foot for Super Bowl Sunday storm.
As roadkill only gets flatters, all too often the expected snowfall for a New England snowstorm grows deeper: the National Weather Service has upped its expectations for the Boston and Quincy area forecast to as much as 6 to 8 inches of snow.
Granted, perhaps Quincy will again get lucky as it did for last Monday’s nor’easter when the snow/rain line moved a few miles west and the Q so dodged the foot-plus snowfall that coated towns and cities west of Boston.
At the same time, areas receiving less snow this time will likely be hit with more heavy and wet snow that compacts rather than fluffs up and perhaps drifts as forecasted temperatures across the region are generally lower for this storm given a colder cold front.
Regardless, there are two points to keep in mind.
One is that if the snowfall in Quincy runs around five or so inches from this snow, removing it will likely all but deplete what is left in the City of Quincy’s FY2021 snow budget and so only further deplete the city’s already sorely depleted financial reserves and so by extension also draining the pockets of local taxpayers.
And the other:
