Fashion flees the Q.

Grandasia, Quincy’s longtime at least South Shore region destination for females seeking formal wear, has called it quits.

This purveyor of fashion survived two moves of its huge inventory to new locations in Quincy over the years but could not survive the COVID-19 pandemic.

Quincy Quarry must acknowledge that it was slow to note this sad passing. 

Reasons include that it does not have a fashion desk, much less any fashion sense.

Even so, as well as far more importantly, the Quarry must also note that Jay, Quincy’s now sadly former always cheery impresario of formal female fashion wear, and his posse of young fashionistas always strove to help its patrons find just the right gown and at a reasonable price.

That and always made its patrons feel special when just the right dress was found.

In a day when clothing sales are ever-increasingly moving to the cold and utterly impersonal realm of online shopping, the passing of Grandasia represents yet another sad decline of the human touch as well as yet another local institution that had long helped make Quincy Quincy.
