Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch finally vidoes a new COVID-19 YouTube Update.
After over a week of no new YouTube COVID-19 updates and as exposéd by Quincy Quarry, Mayor Koch pushed out a new YouTube COVID-19 update via Twitter around shortly after close of business at City Hall (4:30 PM) yesterday.
Mayor Koch – Quincy, COVID Update Wed, 12-30. New cases today is 74. 2-week daily new case average 54.2. 1 week daily new case average 53.6. Positivity rate is 5.9%. Active is 628. Total is 4416. Recovered is 3562. Deaths are at 141. Status is red. https://t.co/64jwhRjT1f

While it is unclear if the YouTube was rushed into being in the wake of Quincy Quarry noting the extended hiatus since the previous update is unclear and obviously the Quarry knows not to bother with reaching out to City Hall for comment as a response would all but assuredly never be tendered, the update was apparently rushed as it was one of the shortest updates ever posted even if it opened up with filler comments on how the latest class of new Quincy Police officers, which include the mayor’s older son, have finished Police Academy.
That and then presented some factual misstatements.
For example, Mayor Koch described a 37% one day increase in new infections from the most recent new infections two-week average as “… (o)ur numbers are up a little bit.”
Then again, as the ever-growing legions of loyal Quincy Quarry readers know, Quincy’s mayor is not exactly when it comes to properly addressing things quantitative – or otherwise for that matter.
And for a Q-up, someone failed to post the new update video to the COVID-19 link on the City of Quincy’s website homepage yesterday.
Again, it is unclear if the mayor slapped together this sloppy short update in the wake of Quincy Quarry exposing that he had not posted an uptake in over a week while cases appear to be soaring on top of Quincy’s already COVID-19 Code Red status or if it was rushed to beat the expected release of today’s all but assuredly grime COVID-19 weekly update from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
Regardless, late and sloppy is late and sloppy.
