Quincy Mayor Koch cancels Christmas Parade and other local Christmas events.
It’s official: Quincy Mayor Thomas P, Koch has finally decided to cancel Quincy’s annual Christmas parade and other municipally hosted Christmas events.
Mayor Koch opted to slip word of same on the record late in the going during one of his interminable, over-scripted and yet still vapid COVID-19 YouTube updates.
Needless to say, while potential participants were probably few and so making cancellation of the parade all but a given, the decision to cancel the parade surely was a tough call to make for someone who loves to lead a parade, stage photo ops, and otherwise pimp himself.
Additionally, word of the cancellation of this high hack holiday for premium overtime pay for even less than usual light lifting will surely not be well-received by the usual favored cadre of Department of Public Works slackers.
After all, everyone could use a little extra money this time of year to help cover the cost of holiday gifts and especially covering the tab on holiday cheer.
Conversely, no word, however, if the City of Quincy’s life-sized creche will continue to be put on display on city property even though the City of Quincy years ago stopped putting out an ecumenical assortment of seasonal symbols as a show of good faith as regards Quincy’s diverse range of faiths.
On the bright side, Santa is surely relieved that he will not have to risk life and limb as well as tree limbs this year while participating in Quincy’s variously high risk annual Santa Claus parachute jump.
UPDATE: Please retweet to help spread the word!
Due to high winds, the Santa parachute jump has been cancelled for today at Pageant Field. A decision will be made this week if it can be rescheduled until next Saturday. Information to be posted this week. https://t.co/zeTJTN8daV
