NASA’s new twenty-three million dollar space toilet is ready for launch today for installation on the International Space Station.
Granted, the cost is considerable, however, arranging for a plumber to make a house call in space is surely not cheap.
Additionally, when it comes to using a toilet in space, no one the crew wants anything lost in space.

That and nothing lasts for forever.
While there is no word of the Universal Waste Management System (UWMS) is a new and improved design by reluctant Payload Specialist Howard Wolowitz, the new loo is 65% smaller and 40% lighter than the toilet currently in use on the space station.
The new commode can also accommodate the needs of larger crews than the old one.
Additionally, the new space toilet was designed to better accommodate female astronauts.
No word, however, if it has an automatic lid closer.
