I am a cop.  I won’t fight a ‘war’ on crime the way I fought the war on terror as a CIA operative.

From a police officer in Georgia comes a powerful and compelling essay on how best to effect both effective and appreciated local policing.

In brief, treat locals as neighbors and reach out proactively to better discern what is needed. 

In turn, potentially big problems can be readily headed off with often simple and small actions which will also help engender better working relationships for all concerned going forward.
