With but a bit less than a third of the United States’ population and only 107 known COVID-19 deaths in the Philippines to date per one data source as compared to the 5,122 in the United States or the 13,522 in Italy per the same date source, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has still opted to threaten to impose what his:fellow international leader and arguable fan United States President Donald Trump can only wish he could do: President Duterte threatened to issue an order to shoot to kill any COVID-19 opponents.

President Duterte issued the warning after 20 protesters demanding food and other assistance were arrested in Quezon City for staging a rally without a permit amid the month-long of Luzon lock-down and which most Americans would view as martial law.

While no one has yet been shot, Duterte is widely assumed to have been behind a wave of widely popular assassinations of suspected drug dealers in recent years as well as has claimed to be personally responsible for killing several others to make a point.

Accordingly, one can only assume that his opponents are actively considering to be standing down during the lock down.

Needless to say, both the Anti Corruption Digest and Quincy Quarry will continue to monitor the situation and report back as might be appropriate.
