There will not be a Saint Patrick’s Day lunch in Quincy this year, but it will not because of Coronavirus.
And if you believe that pile of blarney …
Seriously, the South Shore broadsheet has reported that local “… (o)fficials have called off the city’s annual comedic roast and St. Patrick’s Day luncheon just ahead of the event’s 25th anniversary.”
City of Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch Koch said earlier this week, “we’ve called it off, and I haven’t heard from anybody that they’ll miss it.”
Apparently, the mayor has been avoiding the City Hall water cooler out of an abundance of caution over Coronavirus as all but assuredly a number of City Hall coatholders have surely been grumbling over the cancellation of a de facto official liquid lunch event.
Further, given submission for publication deadlines, Quincy Quarry was not able to undertake follow on inquiries if the longtime event host may have finally had its fill of drunken behavior by event attendees.
Even so, Quincy Quarry continues to monitor Quincy’s City Hall to see if might it finally release an official plan on how the City of Quincy plans to respond to Coronavirus.
Other than to seek to keep the mayor in a bubble and thus socially distant from the concerns of local residents, that is.
