New Orange Line train derails.

While only to be expected to happen, this derailment of a new six car Orange Line train set happened sooner than even the consensus expectation of the hard-bitten and even harder drinking cynics in the Quincy Quincy newsroom.

Even so, a profitable win by taking the under is a win.

In any event, the derailment occurred in the MBTA’s Orange Line train yard in Medford. 

The T announced it would be replacing a track switch as well as currently suspects that the switch may have been the cause of the derailment.

In other words, the T is throwing this switch under a train.

The T also announced that the damage to the new Orange Line train was “minor.”  How much will minor cost, however, was not detailed.
