Fall River Mayor Jasiel Correia II formally announces leave of absence.
As expected, Jasiel Correia announced that he would be both taking a leave of absence from office for the remainder of the roughly fifteen weeks left of his term in office and suspending his reelection campaign to focus on his legal defense against twenty-four felony charges per two federal grand jury indictments.
At the same time as well as less expected, he plans on both retaining the title of mayor and continuing to receive his roughly ten thousand dollar per month mayoral salary.
In any event, given Correia’s leave taking and former Brockton Mayor William Carpenter’s fatal heart attack in early July, two of the mayors of the incorporated as cities south of Boston have left office.
In turn, as things tend to happen in threes, Quincy Quarry has to wonder who’s next.
