A man in his 70s is in critical condition after authorities say a police cruiser hit him as he was crossing a street in Quincy, Massachusetts. The incident happened at 7:21 a.m.

A Quincy Police Department cruiser hits and critically injures a local seventy-nine-year-old pedestrian.
Reports indicate that the officer driving the cruiser was responding to a medical call with its lights flashing but not sounding its siren.
The victim, Giovanni Angelucci, a beloved long-time local barber who has long operated a one-man shop in Quincy Center opposite City Hall, was rushed to Boston Medical Center Wednesday morning and is said to be in critical condition.
Local broadcast media noted that video of the accident was captured by the security camera system for a business adjacent to the accident scene but did not run the video as it was decided it was too graphic.

While the Quincy Police Department posted word of the accident on social media, Quincy Quarry has not seen any official comment about the accident from either Quincy Police Chief Paul “The Beav” Keenan or his brother-in-law Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch.
At most, word has been announced that the Weymouth Police Department will be handling the accident investigation as well as that the officer who struck the pedestrian has been placed on paid leave.
