National Hot Dog Day is today!

The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council created National Hot Dog Day.
Additionally, this industry lobbying group sees to it that National Hot Dog Day is set to coincide with its hosting of a hot dog lunch on Capitol Hill every year on a Wednesday in July.

In any event, this year’s hot dogging it will feature an homage to Apollo 11 astronauts Neil A. Armstrong and Edwin E. “Buzz” Aldrin Jr. on the fiftieth anniversary of their landing on the moon as hot dogs were among the first foods eaten by them during their historic mission to the moon.

Alternatively, consider trying one (or more) of ten other signature hot dogs from baseball parks around the country.
Then again, it is tough to top a properly made Fenway Frank by The Sausage Guy on the way into catching a game at Fenway Park.

It’s worth noting that the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council eschews the use of ketchup on hot dogs. Who would do it anyway? It’s just not right.
Dom you are right. What I miss are the hotdogs they had at Howard Johnsons. The toasted and buttered buns, and the sweet relish they had that was unique. I can’t find the same relish anywhere. It was special. Anyone know where I can get it today?
