Quincy Center is visited by a spring robin!
While out and about on the ever-increasingly mean but at least finally snow melting streets of Quincy, Quincy Quarry news personnel spotted a much-beloved sign of spring in Quincy Square: a robin.
Apparently, Puxatawny Phil’s forecast for an early spring may turn out to be correct for a change.
Conversely, however, Ms G, the Massachusetts Audubon Society’s weather forecaster at its Drumlin Farms operations in Lincoln Massachusetts, forecast on Ground Hog’s Day was also basically a push of a close call as she called for six more weeks of winter six weeks ago.
Then again, until we pass the Anniversary of the 1997 April Fool’s Day Blizzard and given claims of climate change, one should hold off until at least Opening Day at Fenway against the Toronto Blue Jays on April 9 before even thinking about putting away snow shovels and rock salt until next winter.
That and perhaps put out a little birdseed in the meanwhile.
