Yet another cover-up at City Hall …
A Quincy Quarry News exclusive image

New cover-ups at Quincy’s City Hall?

While the long-touted Kim Jong Koch Plaza in front of Quincy’s City Hall set for dedication on Saturday, September 8, and thus around three months later than the original projection of on Flag Day, its new “heroic” statutes – created by a Russian émigré now living in Italy – are undercover.

In the meanwhile, construction workers have been working for months – including surely gravy time overtime on Saturdays all summer – to see the plaza ready enough for dedication a month sooner than the original four months delayed date of on or about Columbus Day.

One can only assume that perhaps city officials were concerned about descendants of Sachem Chickatawbut and other members of the Massachusetts branch of the Wôpanâak having something to say.

Beloved statues now MIA

In the meanwhile, Quincy Quarry has yet to uncover what is planned for the far more engaging, creatively symbolic as well as beloved statues of Abigail and John Quincy and John Adams that long as well as graciously graced Quincy Square.

Regardless, count on Quincy Quarry to fully cover the gala opening of Mayor Koch’s latest edifice complex, including a comprehensive review by Fred Olmstead – a fifth-generation descendant of the putative founder of landscape design in the United States – of this $20 million-plus and counting banal pastiche of landscape cliches.
