State Senator Michael D. Brady is entering an alcohol rehabilitation facility following his drunken driving arrest in Weymouth.
“Today I will be admitting myself for professional treatment and counseling for alcohol use,” announced the Brockton Democrat on Wednesday via a prepared statement.
“The course of treatment requires my full attention over the next few days. I look forward to returning to work next week.”
Brady was pulled over shortly before 2:30 a.m. Saturday after another motorist spotted him swerving and called 911, police said.
When an officer told Brady he would be testing his sobriety, “Brady handed a Commonwealth of Massachusetts identification card and stated he was a State Senator,” according to a police report.
In other words, “do you know who I am?”
Brady went on to fail a series of field sobriety tests and refused to consent to a Breathalyzer while he was being booked on suspicion of drunken driving, court documents show.
Brady was arraigned Monday in Quincy District Court on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
He was released on his own recognizance.

He was arrested Saturday night, arraigned on Monday and nothing in the media until Tuesday? The fix is in.
This ‘rehab’ is image rehab not alcohol rehab. He said he’ll be back to work in a week? Doesn’t he mean he’ll be back to raising our taxes in a week?
Jo,
Given Senator Brady’s opting for but a quick “weekend” rehab plan, the touts at Quincy Quarry are putting their money on his raising a glass before he might be able to raise our taxes.
