– News about Quincy from Quincy Quarry News.
The first snow job of the winter season is a waste of brine.
While out and about early this morning looking for news on the increasing mean as well as also ever colder streets of Quincy, intrepid Quincy Quarry News personnel happened upon signs of brine.
Specifically, application of salt mixed into water to pre-treat streets in advance of snow.
Granted, so treating street with brine can be an effective snow clearing tool.
In this case, however, it was arguably a waste of good salt, if not also so baiting bad luck.
Brining streets is best down within but hours of a coming snow storm – ideally such that the brine is applied close enough to the first snowfall such that the brine can dry out but before it might blow away care of passing traffic and/or the wind.
In this case, however, this brine was applied roughly twenty-four hours BEFORE the forecast start of the storm.
In any event, count on Quincy Quarry to closely follow how the first snowfall in Quincy plays out and then exposé anything deserving of an exposing.
