How politics and bad decisions starved New York City’s massive public transit system.
The resultant as well as burgeoning problems have long been in the making and were fueled by a litany of ill-advised actions and decisions per a major New York Times investigation.
No city in the United States is more dependent up its public transit system than is New York City.
Even so, considerable disruptions and chronic delays have roiled the system this year.
Also note that this insightful review of the myriad of problems facing New York’s Metropolitan Transit Authority are often eerily parallel to those which have made a mess of Greater Boston’s MBTA.
Granted, efforts have been underway in recent years to address the many shortcomings of the MBTA as well as that more are said to be pending.
At the same time, it is still only fair to note that a fair chunk of the many more problems facing New York City’s Metropolitan Transit Authority are because it is many times larger than the MBTA.
