Quincy Parks Department caught hosing it after a deluge.
Early Sunday morning shortly after attending 8 AM services, Quincy Quarry News personnel stumbled upon a Park and Forestry Department watering city landscaping.
So what, apparently, for the fact that Quincy was hit with an inch and half rainfall a day earlier and which gave rise to reports of flooding in Wollaston and elsewhere.
Other problems of obvious mismanagement at the Parks Department were recently dimed to Quincy Quarry News.
Apparently, the Parks Department’s crew which operate the cleanest as well as most pimped out dump truck ride in at least the greater South Shore area have long only worked diligently picking up trash at mostly but North Quincy and Wollaston venues that Quincy Mayor Koch might see on his way to and from City Hall.
In spite of multiple complaints by trash-impacted local residents, the now recently former head of the Parks and Forestry Department was unsuccessful at admonishing the selectively working dump truck crew to do their jobs.
In turn, however, the recently named new head of the Parks Department has apparently come up with a solution.
Via a very reliable source who knows all about the decades-long history of slacking at the City of Quincy Parks Departments, the solution was to have Sunrise Scavenger place trash receptacles at the ignored locations and then pick up the trash in these bins given that the Parks Department’s trash truck team does not bother to do so.
So what, apparently, for the fact that such service by Sunrise Scavenger would be not be an approved budget spending item as well as would so result in paying twice for work done.
Needless to say, Quincy Quarry’s ever growing legions of loyal readers can expect yet another hard hitting exposé into the soft underbelly of the Koch Administration as soon as it can secure photographic proof of slacking by at least some at the Parks Department.
Kind of like doing a traffic study AFTER the roadways in Quincy Center have been — at great taxpayer expense and maximum frustration — reconfigured to a fare thee well?
