Quincy police responded to eight opioid overdoses in fewer than 48 hours.
This past weekend six people overdosed, including two people who overdosed twice in a 12-hour period, per reports by Quincy Quincy’s media brethren at not only the South Shore broadsheet, but by also those at Fox 25 and WCVB Channel 5.
With City Hall closed up tighter than someone facing a federal subpoena over the extended holiday weekend, Quincy Quarry was unable to reach Quincy City Hall spokesmodel Pinocchio Walkbacker for comment on this latest rash of overdoses in Quincy, not that he every cares to respond to inquires from the Quarry.
High number of overdoses over this past weekend notwithstanding, this troubling number of local overdoses does not appear to be the result of a bad batch of drugs on the street per the Quincy Police Department.
Quincy has long been plagued with an opiate epidemic and which has only continued to worsen in recent years.
So bad, in fact, that Quincy has the second highest percentage rate of opiate overdoses among cities and larger towns in the Commonwealth per recent Massachusetts Department of Public Health data.
