Quincy’s Number One Ward Heeler caught in a three-way race.

After all but running wild in local politics and otherwise for years, Quincy’s Number One Ward Heeler is finding herself in at least a three-way race come this fall’s elections.

One challenger was a longtime as well as hard-working Quincy School Committee member, is currently a long-time member of the City of Quincy Park and Recreation Commission and has long been widely viewed around the Q as an all around good guy.

The other challenger is a relative newcomer to Quincy.  His campaign platform and things that he would press to see happen if elected are all laudable, but one has to wonder if he truly appreciates what longtime Quincy residents expect out of their ward councillors in the way of both basic constituent services as well as special favors, much less what the incumbent has been doing to her constituents as well as purportedly with at least one so far unnamed individual.

That and rumblings on the street are that others are also considering making things even hotter in Ward One this summer campaign season as well as then onto the fall elections.

Per Quincy Quarry’s preliminary straw polling – and not to be confused with straw campaign contributions or other sorts of campaign funding violations, while many in Ward One would find great pleasure seeking the Ward Heeler primaried, all of the many disgruntled Ward One residents would likely settle for her retirement from office care of November’s General Election.

Reasons are numerous – in fact, too numerous for the Quarry to list in this story as well as so many that reading through them all would likely either put the typical Quincy Quarry reader to sleep or cause a long-suffering Ward One resident to go postal.

Even so, the ever growing legions of both loyal Quincy Quarry readers as well as those seeking to see the Ward Heeler put out to pasture will surely find vicarious pleasure as the Quarry closely watches and then recounts the action in this three-way.
