– News and commentary about Quincy from Quincy Quarry News

Quincy Quarry Weekly Fish Wrap: Wet and wild in the Q!

Just when one might hope that perhaps the Q had finally exhausted its quota for Q-up’s for at least awhile, things of course instead hit the fan.

Well, actually, a water main burst.

Even more problematic, the site of the water main rupture was on Newport Avenue near its intersection with Furnace Brook Parkway as well as that it blew right in the middle of the evening commute.

Water damage?

Fortunately – if not also amazingly, the MBTA did not halt operations on its nearby Red Line tracks.

Even more fortunately, Red Line straphangers were thus among the best sources of Citizen Photo Journalist images as well as video of the geyser.

Plus, four local TV stations’ helicopters, along with Quincy Quarry’s newscopter, were circling overhead in a desperate effort to score video feed in time to make their respective early evening local news broadcasts.

At the same time, the best running commentary on this commute hour disaster comes from the comments posted on a local TV station’s Facebook page.

City Hall parking soon to be out of service

Simply put, snarkiness was rampant.

And as for other developments in recent days, Quincy Quarry was yet again brilliantly singular in its exclusive coverage on how City Hall denizens will soon as well as finally be feeling the pain of the already several-years long loss of parking in Quincy Center.

Specifically, roughly half of the free parking reserved for City Hall denizens will be taken out of service during the (currently,ed.) projected eighteen month and but partial demolition of the long condemned Quincy Center MBTA station parking garage.

This time it’s personal …

Unfortunately, as well as only to be expected, City Hall VIP’s will yet again not feel any pain.

At least not until the next election.

Not duly disclosed by either the T or city officials, however, is that a new Quincy Center MBTA station and parking garage will most likely not be mostly in place until sometime in the mid 2020’s – best case – given the still pending receipt of necessary funding, including funding care of a sure to have to be massive as well as relatively tall building(s) built over the station to perhaps cover the nut.

Needless to say, one can only assume that the abutting Presidents Hill residents will surely be going nuclear over the height of what all has been to date all but assuredly as well as exclusively been discussed behind closed doors.

FOODFIGHT!!!

As such, expect upcoming Quincy Quarry coverage on this impending as well as likely to be massive foodfight.

And speaking of upcoming coverage, the Quarry is working what appears to have the makings of yet another instance of campaign fund contribution mischief involving Quincy’s peerless mayor.

As such, stay tuned for these as well as other sure to be breaking badly bad news breaking badly for the Q.
