Quincy serial tree killings take a troubling turn.
News of tree killings in the Q are nothing new to the ever-growing legions of loyal Quincy Quarry readers.
Similarly well-known is the usual reason: a lack of water – even if the guilty have yet to face the music for killing what many have long believed that only God can make.
In this latest case exposéd by Quincy Quarry, however, there are ample indications that plenty of water was available to this tree.
After all, its still standing but clearly dead remains are surrounded by lush grass as well as healthy trees and bushes.
Even more troubling, and as has long been the case with these troubling serial tree killings, it would continue to appear that senior city officials still do not have a clue.
Granted, for a change, a lack of water would not appear to be at least a partial cause of death for this particular dead taxpayer-funded tree as has been the case previously.
Even so, one cannot help but feel that at this point that some hint of a glint of a clue as to a suspected killer – or killers – is only reasonable to expect in the wake of so many local tree killings in recent years.
Similarly, one would think that Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch would take a special interest in seeing this long ongoing serial tree-killing spree finally end.
After all, in his previous position at the public trough, he was a long-time head of the City of Quincy’s Park and Forestry Department.
Unfortunately, however, it would appear that Mayor Thomas P. Koch has little interest in making Quincy green again – or at least not keeping things green absent both state funding and a concurrent photo op opportunity.
As for Quincy Quarry’s investigatory efforts, it has uncovered what it hopes will eventually exposé the culprit or culprits: virtually all of the deceased were recently planted city-owned trees.
After all, at a projected estimated average all-costs inclusive cost of a thousand dollars on average to both remove a dead tree and then replace it with a potential new victim, such surely has to total up to serious money given the number of trees killed in Quincy in recent years.
Needless to say, count on Quincy Quarry to continue to follow the story as well as report on any new developments.
