– News about Quincy MA from Quincy Quarry News.
The Anne Mahoney for Mayor campaign team announced that as of June 1, Ms. Mahoney and her volunteers have knocked 3,000 doors in Quincy. The Mahoney campaign claims that this is the largest voter door knocking outreach of any candidate to date.
Her campaign has also contacted voters and received signatures from every ward in the city.
“It’s just an incredible way to start off,” said Ms. Mahoney, “We always knew our campaign’s strength was in our volunteers and in the way we connect directly to Quincy residents, but this represents a high water mark even for us.”
“To us, 3,000 doors is not just a number,” said Mahoney Campaign Chair Veronica Bertrand, “those 3,000 doors represent at least 3,000 voters who are fed up with the same candidates and the same policies year after year. Anne has actually knocked about 2/3rds of those doors personally because she knows people want a mayor who listens to them, who actually goes to their door and asks what they want from city government.”
Per the Mahoney campaign, their 3,000 doors knocked figure is roughly equal to the total of all other candidate door knocking numbers combined.
While many campaigns walk Wollaston Beach or work local supermarkets to collect the needed signatures, the Mahoney campaign has gone door to door as part of their campaign philosophy: “Every ward has a voice.”
At last report, six prospective candidates have announced plans to run for Mayor in Quincy. Candidates were able to pull nomination papers on May 5th and have to collect at least 50 certified signatures to be on the September 22nd ballot.
Nomination papers must be submitted to the City Clerk for certification by August 4th.
