– News about Quincy MA from Quincy Quarry News
Quincy Mayor Tom “Cupcakes” Koch finally appeared after many days apparently adrift and thus both neither seen nor heard to unilaterally announce that the City of Quincy will not be adding to the travails of locals in the wake of The Blizzard of 2015 by insisting that they clear their sidewalks.
Purported key reasons for this affected magnanimous sovereign dispensation include that the City inexplicably does not apparently have any hard and fast sidewalk snow clearing ordinances in place.
A more gimlet-eyed analysis, however, would suggest at least two other as well as far more important reasons.
One is that the City has not exactly been aces clearing its own sidewalks other than those adjacent to City Hall.
The other is that – amazingly – the mayor admitted that snowplow trucks have buried much – if not most – of Quincy’s over 300 miles of sidewalk with frozen heavy snow.
This all but assuredly unprecedented acknowledgement of problematic City performance notwithstanding, Mayor Koch then failed to admit that the City’s snowplowing efforts in the wake of The Blizzard of 2015 opened up local residential streets to mostly but “goat paths” in the middle of what now passes for roadways.
Similarly, so what – apparently – about public safety.
With the Quincy Medical Center reduced to but a purported emergency room and an unknown number of local residential streets bordering on impassable, one can only fear the worst given the as much as foot of wet and heavy snow forecast to fall following the Super Bowl.
In particular, what if this storm hits early and snowplowing personnel opt to continue to watch the game for at least awhile before reporting for duty and/or come into work while under influence of a food coma care of an excessive input of wings and beverages?
As Quincy Quarry knows all too well from experience that neither does City Hall respond to tough but fair questioning nor does it ever have much – if anything – in the way of truly viable contingencies plans other than to throw money at problems whenever it is often overwhelmed, the Quarry did not bother to waste its time reaching out in vain to City officials for comment.
Even so, expect Quincy Quarry to duly report the full story AFTER the next round of snow hits the fan.

Love it “sovereign dispensation” how soon before we will have to kiss Koch’s ring to get something?
