While sex scandals on Beacon Hill have been been fodder for the media in recent years, they actually go back a ways.  A long ways.

Apparently the first officially recorded sex scandal and so forced departure of a member of the Great and General Court on Beacon Hill occurred one hundred and sixty-two years ago.

And yes, in true Massachusetts fashion this scandalous scandal entailed the Roman Catholic Church – via the member allegedly propositioning nuns, expense account abuse and apparently time between the sheets with someone not the purported perpetrator’s wife.
