Quincy City Hall to lose half of its free parking during the Quincy Center MBTA station garage demolition, currently projected to (probably, ed.) be completed by the end of 2018.
After both long as well as consistently protecting its free parking spaces through the upheaval caused by the initial old City Hall remodeling efforts, the old City Hall fire, post-fire clean-up and then re-remodeling of it as well as the still ongoing Hancock Street Misalignment project, Karma is finally making a long overdue visit to City Hall.
Specifically, close to half of City Hall’s free parking spaces long reserved for the exclusive use by City Hall denizens will be taken out of service during the (currently, ed.) projected eighteen months long demolition of merely but most of the long-condemned Quincy Center MBTA parking garage.

The demolition is slated to commence this summer and – again – is currently projected to (perhaps, ed.) be completed by the end of 2018.
The key reasons for the loss of free parking spaces for City Hall employees include that the MBTA will need to relocate the current location of its bus platforms, (official, ed.) passenger drop off and temporary pick up parking spaces and taxi stand along with the rumored pending designation by the Koch Administration of several City Hall parking spaces for use by a tenant in an adjacent commercial building as well as by the clients of that tenant.

Unfortunately, however, it would currently appear that none of the City Hall’s VIP parking capacity will be affected.
Even so, a number of City Hall denizens are still sure to be focused on losing their free parking spaces as well as soon having to park somewhere else less convenient even if their new parking spaces will likely continue to be free for them to use.
Conversely, so what, apparently, for the fact that the exponentially far larger community of already long-suffering straphangers as well as nearby businesses and residents are now looking at (at least, ed.) another year and half of surely far greater inconvenience care of problems sure to be caused by the pending (but, ed.) partial demolition of the long condemned and thus closed Quincy Center MBTA parking garage.

That as well as many more years of inconvenience yet to come before a new Quincy Center MBTA station might perhaps actually happen in addition to the already long ongoing inconvenience of the just short of five years that this station’s parking garage has been out of service.
Needless to say, expect Quincy Quarry to continue to cover this ongoing train wreck as well as as only the Quarry has the stones to do.
Any predictions on people running in next election? I’m hearing that Quincy’s Number 1 Ward Heeler will have 2 – and possibly 3 – opponents in this September’s primary election.
Nick, Lost involved in a three or perhaps four way would not come as any great surprise to anyone in the QQ newsroom.
Ariel is also likely facing opposition in Ward 5 as well as that word on the street is that the long knives are out in Ward 6.
Most others, however, are looking relatively likely to all but coast into their reelections.
If city officials did their job they would be re-elected. Instead, higher property taxes, construction projects that never end and more on the way. The freak show that never ends.
No way they should be re-elected; the natives are getting restless.
The money trees are also slowly drying up. This time they won’t be able to buy their way to self-aggrandizing glory.
That and continuous fireworks come July when the traffic nightmares start with closing of a Red Line station, demolition of the MBTA garage in the center and the loss of even more parking at both venues as well as busing from station to station.

Sky — In theory you’re absolutely right. But this Mayor and some of his rubber-stampers on the City Council are by no means doing their jobs. And Koch, for some inexplicable reason, despite his pathetic record, has been re-elected how many times?

Dom — No argument re certain people not doing their jobs.
Then again, such is how our peerless mayor stays in office by handing out city jobs and/or fat raises to upwards of a couple thousand or so often dubiously qualified layabouts and which works out to around at least five times as many votes for him on election day.
As such, here’s hoping for inescapable scandal to hit the fan as otherwise the Q is Q’ed.
