Quincy serial tree killings branch out from Quincy Center to elsewhere in the Q.

Courtesy of yet another Citizen Journalist tip, Quincy Quarry was tipped off about tree killings of city trees branching out (to at least, ed.) Quincy Center’s border with Wollaston.

In this latest installment of a longing ongoing series on arboreal abuse in the Q, a pair of victims were found in front of the main entrance of Central Middle School.

The cause of their demise was readily ascertained at the crime scene: a lack of water.

Whether or more likely not the carnage is cleaned up before the start of a new school year and so precludes subjecting impressible young children to the horror remains to be seen.

Of further concern was finding how woefully ill-kept is the landscaping at the relatively new $50 million Central Middle School.

As City Hall is loath to speak to Quincy Quarry as well as that Quarry staff have no interest in spending time left interminably on hold, the Quarry instead covertly reached out to its growing legions of sources both high but mostly low for information.

Quincy Quarry so discerned the following: apparently the school custodial staff is responsible for the care and watering of the landscaping at their respective school assignments.

If such is – in fact – basically accurate, these latest tree killings make no sense whatsoever as how busy can school custodians be when school students are away on summer vacation?

Plus, given this summer dry and often hot summer, what better way for custodians to cool themselves off than while watering their respective school’s grounds?

Similarly troubling are the massive weed infestations of the beds of landscaping around various local schools.

After all, given this summer’s severe drought, keeping weeds under control should be at least relatively easy to accomplish.

Needless to say, expect Quincy Quarry to follow things and report back if the horrifically weed-laden school landscaping is duly cleaned up – if at all – before the start of school in a few short weeks.
