Quincy Quarry asks Quincy’s number one ward heeler to produce a purported absolving letter from the State Ethics Commission over alleged ethical violations.
In previous Quarry coverage, it has at least generally corroborated questions as regards possible ethical violations by this ward heeler and as noted in an apparently filed complaint filed against her with the Massachusetts State Ethics Commission.
Given the rules under which State Ethics Commission operates, it is not allowed to confirm if a complaint filing has been submitted to it and/or if it is investigating a state official for possible ethical violations until a final report might be issued.
At the same time, any investigation target is free to acknowledge that she or he is under investigation.

So far, however, rather than directly address the allegations head on, however, and in spite of ongoing media coverage – especially that first broken in Quincy Quarry – as well as otherwise public heat on the number one ward heeler while out on the campaign trail, the always claiming to be big on communication ward heeler has exactly been all that forthcoming.

Rather, parties close to the ward heeler – including a family member– have instead posted various sorts of statements on Facebook claiming that, among other claims, the City Solicitor told her that she faced no ethical problems over her voting to approve city budget appropropriations which at least partially funded her day job as the director of tourism at Discover Quincy, a unit of the local chamber of commerce.
Per any reasonable read of Massachusetts General Law 286a, Section 20, however, the Solicitor’s purported opinion would appear to probably be in error, most especially as a former City of Quincy city councillor, as well as others elsewhere, have ended up in trouble over eerily similar sets of circumstances.
The number one ward heeler’s defense has also asserted on Facebook the existence of a letter from the State Ethics Commission absolving her of ethical violations.  This Facebook thread can also be seen here.
In response to this claim, Quincy Quarry has formally asked why not then produce this purported letter as doing so would so effectively end the ongoing controversy surrounding her.
In fairness to the ward heeler as well as given Quincy Quarry’s policy of providing balanced and fair™ coverage, the Quarry has also offered to publish the purported letter if the letter were provided to it.
So far, however, the purported letter has yet to be be shared even if Quincy’s number one ward heeler’s purported copy is hers to do with as she pleases, including her sharing it with others.
Expect Quincy Quarry to continue to go to press with coverage of the questioned ethics of the ward heeler until definitive answers might finally be provided.
