Peter Pan Bus driver accused of locking passenger in luggage compartment.
The Peter Pan bus driver was arrested after police said she locked a passenger inside of the luggage compartment of a bus heading to Boston.
Connecticut State Police said they received a 911 call from a woman around 4 PM on Sunday who said she was locked in the luggage compartment of a Peter Pan bus.
Understandable incredulity notwithstanding, state troopers found the bus and pulled it over. The woman was then found unhurt in the baggage compartment.
She told police that “she had been purposely locked inside by a female bus driver while attempting to retrieve items from her bag.”
Reports notwithstanding and while in no way justifying the driver’s alleged actions, anyone who has ridden a long haul bus can fathom why the driver did what she is alleged to have done.

Anyone who has ever been on a train, bus or flight has seen travelers stow there luggage and then go back to retrieve something. They inevitably jam up the aisles and bump into fellow passengers. If you absolutely positively have to have an item for the duration of a trip, have the damn thing out before you stow your luggage. Bus companies, railways and airlines allow carry ons for this reason. Pack your sweater or headphones or book or whatever else you need for the trip in your carry on and be done with your luggage until you arrive at your destination. I’ve been tempted to dope slap fellow passengers on numerous occasions. Coincidentally, the dopes who have to retrieve their luggage from an overhead bin are the same ones who can’t figure out how to turn their luggage 90 degrees to make it fit. This bus driver just did what many others fantasized.
I feel sorry for the poor bus driver. Her picture and name are all over the news, but not that passenger! She gets away with harming the bus driver’s reputation and disrupting travel plans of all those other innocent people on that bus. Why not publish her name so maybe at least her family can make sure she gets the help she needs and other travel companies can be on the lookout for her in case she is a serial stowaway?
