Demolition of the long condemned Quincy Center MBTA parking garage about to finally begin?

Staging continues to be underway to commence the long impending but only partial demolition of the Quincy Center MBTA parking garage.

The parking garage was condemned and then abruptly closed in July of 2012.

Demolition of the garage was supposed to commence last fall, only to be repeatedly delayed.

At the same time, upwards of a six months delay notwithstanding, the MBTA continues to state that it expects the demolition work to be completed in 2019.

Still no official word, however, as to when a new Quincy Center MBTA station might be built, much less any explanation from the MBTA as to why it will not be replacing any of the parking capacity lost when its once 872 parking spaces Quincy Center station parking garage was condemned and then closed almost six years ago.
