Casting votes for change

Alabama Senate special election race finally over via an upset.

Democratic challenger Doug Jones topped the variously controversial Republican candidate Roy Moore.

Finally one can now only hope that the acrimony will soon be heading off the media’s radar in what has been an extraordinarily acrimonious election race that went down to the wire.

As Quincy Quarry’s ever-growing legions of loyal readers will surely recall, the Quarry was among the first among media to call this election as too close to call.

Losing tout on the stump

Even better, however, the Quarry also grabbed some sweet odds from a tout in Tuscaloosa in the closing days of the campaign.

Considerable rancor expended and mud hurdled during this special state election watched by the entire nation, senior figures in both the Democratic and Republican parties are surely at least somewhat pleased with the outcome, albeit for different reasons.

Conversely, however, walking back and over spun spin has already hit social media as well as about what one could only reasonably expect from the White House.

Exiting stage far right?

In any event, losing Republican candidate Roy Moore has yet to concede the election.

In fact, he has so far defiantly refused to do so.

As such, Moore is now on track to derail Hillary Clinton as American’s sorest loser.

Then again, what else should one expected from someone who was twice booted from the Alabama State Supreme Court for refusing to abide by the constitutional rule of law?

Regardless, cooler heads in the Republican Party are surely already planning to find a viable candidate to run against Senator-elect Doug Jones when he comes up quickly for reelection in 2020 in the heretofore deep red state of Alabama.
