Quincy last minute Amazon HQ2 bid confirmed!

26 different sites in Massachusetts are seeking to host Amazon’s second headquarters and the 50,000 jobs that will accompany it, according to a proposal state officials released Friday.

As opined by Quincy Quarry, a last minute bid by the Q for HQ2 has apparently been at least floated by Amazon.

Quincy’s Fore River Shipyard was listed at eighth on a list which was not clear as to how it was ordered by the state officials who provided it.

How the previously all but unmentioned shipyard made the list as a possible Amazon HQ2 is further baffling as it is bereft of any consequential public transit facilities other than already sorely overburdened MBTA bus lines as well as that the shipyard is not readily accessible to a major highway, let alone were these grave site specification expectation shortcomings addressed.

Further not addressed is how much of the Fore River waterfront has long been designated as a Designated Port Area and is thus largely restricted to maritime-related commercial and industrial uses.

Plus, with residential abutters already fighting plans to develop a natural gas compressor and related gas transmission facilities in Fore River Harbor area, one cannot help but suspect that a fifty thousand employee facility in the area would be similarly fought hammer and tong by these same abutters, if not even more NIMBY’s yet.

Regardless, expect Quincy Quarry to monitor this late breaking news as well as as report on any further developments if any actually transpire.
