Quincy city employees failing to provide water during drought?

While on another assignment this morning, Quincy Quarry News personnel happened up a City of Quincy Park and Forestry water truck left parked in Quincy Center – if not also all but abandoned – and thus not in operation.

As documented via cellphone time stamping, the truck was parked for over a half hour and perhaps even longer as the Quincy Quarry News personnel on the scene could not stick around indeterminably to perhaps see if someone might finally return to the truck and perhaps even actually go to work.

In any event, it would appear that the Park and Forestry Department personnel using the truck were taking either an overly long mid-morning break or an early but not quite so overly long lunch break per the terms of their union contract.

As one can also see, the truck was parked near a straggly city tree and the stump of another one that had been cut down and then not replaced.

Given that no Park and Forestry personnel were seen, the Quarry was unable to try to obtain comment as to why the water truck was not providing water to the many drought-suffering city trees and other plants around the Q.

Water, water, but not a drop to irrigate?

Do, however, expect the Quarry to continue to follow the water and so cover this story.

After all, telling anyone on the Quarry staff not to do something only encourages them to do so.
