Parking where one is not supposed and during AM commute

– News about Quincy MA from Quincy Quarry News

Quincy’s new ambulance provider appears to have swung right into City Hall VIP parking and trafficking practices during Monday’s morning commute – and so backed up traffic.

As Quincy Quarry’s police scanner did not pick up any medical emergency dispatches, it is thus only reasonable to assume that the photographed ambulance was parked in a reserved for City Hall business-only parking space so that its EMT crew could then hike to a somewhat nearby coffee vendor.

The reason for perhaps so needing to take a hike: Quincy Square is currently all but without any convenient street parking or even but merely off-street public parking given the long ongoing as well as also long disruptive Hancock Street realignment project in Quincy Center.

Regardless, as family and friends VIP as well long suspected free commuter parking privileges have long been accorded to certain others, the ambulance crew apparently must have that thought that such privileges also applied to them given the considerable amount of campaign contributions made by Brewster family members to primarily  former State Treasurer Tim Cahill, embattled Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch and also rumored to be embattled City of Brockton Mayor Bill Carpenter.

As it turns out, Brewster Ambulances do not enjoy VIP parking privileges – at not when so parking makes things difficult for a passing 18 wheel big rig and/or rumors have it that federal investigators are looking into the Koch Maladministration’s somewhat recent and contested award of the local ambulance franchise to Brewster after decades of service providing in the Q by locally headquartered Fallon Ambulance.

As caught for posterity by a passing Quincy Quarry photo crew, a Quincy police officer apparently working a detail directed the ambulance to move.

After all, protecting City Hall’s VIP parking is Job 1, 2, 3 and ad nauseam as far as City Hall is concerned as well as regardless of public opinion.
