Recall papers reportedly pulled on embattled Rockland Selectmen Vice Chair.

In just breaking badly bad news©, per both WATD 89.5 FM as well as word on the street, apparently someone as yet unidentified has pulled recall petition papers on the embattled Rockland Board of Selectmen Vice Chair and Hough’s Neck native.

The Vice Chair has been intertwined in allegations of inappropriate activities after closing time on a school night inside of the Town Hall.

Last night after missing the previous two Rockland Board of Selectmen meetings as well as announcing hat she is discontinuing campaign bid for the Fifth Plymouth State House of Representatives seat, the Vice Chair proffered the following statement at a regular scheduled Board of Selectmen meeting.

As is now well known, I recently reported an incident of inappropriate behavior by the Rockland Town Administrator. The weeks since those allegations emerged have been very challenging for me and my family. False rumors and gossip have spread, particularly on social media, about me and my devotion to my husband, our children, and our town. Indeed, I no longer feel that my children are comfortable or safe taking the school bus or participating in community activities. This is a deeply disappointing consequence of my decision to stand up for myself in a situation where I was treated improperly.

I remain steadfastly committed to our community and fully support the Board of Selectmen’s decision to engage an independent investigator to investigate the allegations surrounding this incident. I have full confidence in this process and will cooperate fully.  While my family and I take care of our health and safety, my colleagues on the Board must focus on our local governance. To this end, I am taking a brief, voluntary leave of absence from the Board, effective tomorrow June 6, 2018 and extending through the end of the investigation; once completed, I intend to return to my position as Vice Chair of the Rockland Board of Selectmen.

In the interim, because it is a difficult and stressful time for all parties involved in this investigation, I ask that you kindly respect the privacy of all involved in this matter.

Finally, thank you to my husband, children, family, friends, neighbors and residents who have reached out to me and supported me during this difficult time.  I look forward to returning at the conclusion of the investigation, and in my absence have full faith in the dedication and commitment our Board of Selectmen to continue to represent the interests and improve the lives of all our residents, as they always have.

The Vice Chair’s announced taking of a leave of absence hard upon the beginning of the usual summertime quiescence for local governance notwithstanding, recall papers were still apparently pulled in the wake of brutal commentary in another news outlet and which uses language that not even Quincy Quarry uses even when applicable to a particular situation.

Needless to say, count on Quincy Quarry to continue to follow this sordid tale of at least one Town of Rockland public official allegedly behaving inappropriately around closing time on a school night inside of Town Hall.
