Quincy Center MBTA garage bracing continues.

After Quincy Quarry’s exclusive news media breaking word of suspected bracing work undertaken within the long condemned Quincy Center MBTA station parking garage, the Quarry has additional new photos of additional apparent bracing efforts of this long decaying concrete structure.

The garage was suddenly closed over four years ago without any advance warning to the public after it was condemned over structural deficiencies arising from its age, decay, poor maintenance as well as suspected suspect construction in the first place.

While no word has yet to be made public as to the level of need for the bracing up of the deteriorating garage, much less even but a rough projection as to when it might possibly be replaced, there clearly appears to be sufficient decay in the garage’s structure to warrant its retrofitting with temporary structural reinforcing material.

Similarly unknown at this time is just how extensive will be the reinforcing work done at this time or what might be the level of existential risk to both public safety as well as public transportation given the garage’s deteriorating condition.

Further, is this but a first phase of bracing the condemned garage or is the area of concern limited in scope?

Regardless, expect Quincy Quarry to continue to its exposé of this still evolving as well as long-ongoing story about yet another something that is rotting in the Q.
