– News about Quincy MA from Quincy Quarry
Quincy Center civic buildings and now local streets snow clearing practices continue to vary widely.
For example, the shoveling was already done before 11 am at what’s left of fire-ravaged City Hall, well before local streets were reasonably cleared per local cabbies and confirmed by Quincy Quarry staffers stuck working this weekend.
Why clearing City Hall’s entrance was such a prime priority for City workers when it would be closed until 8:30 AM on Monday is inexplicable.

An ill-advised Facebook posting

Quincy Quarry did not bother reaching out to Koch Maladministration spokesmodel Pinocchio Backwalker for comment as it long ago stopped finding his spin amusing.
The Quarry also did not bother to reach out to DPW Commissioner Dan “Spanky” Raymondi for other self-evident reasons.
Quincy Quarry further did not reach out to the Public Buildings Department given the Quarry’s begrudging acceptance of Public Buildings’ apparent long ongoing inability to manage the care and safety of City of Quincy buildings.
Again, why bother?

Ironically, however, on the very same day as the storm the South Shore broadsheet posted a storm puff piece on Saturday that featured a picture of Spanky’s half million dollar and nearly triple more than the promised cost salt shed as well as overspun fluff about how (probably overtime pay working, ed.) City workers were (perhaps, ed.) prepared to address this first not quite but merely moderate snowfall of a so far nearly snow-free winter.

Conveniently overlooked, however, is how much – if not most – of the local road snow plowing has been contracted out as well as significantly so to a certain favorite City vendor for all manner of trucking and hauling work.
In any event, yet again the entryways to the open 7 days a week and far more heavily used main library were not cleared on Saturday.  As such, one can thus only fear the worst on Sunday after Saturday’s slushy mix has frozen solid overnight.
All but needless to say, Quincy residents should plan on yet another long and cold winter during the era of the Koch Maladministration.
