Over-budget. WAY OVER budget.

As snowfall winter has piled up locally this winter, so too have the City of Quincy’s snow clearing bills.
Through this past Friday, total snow clearing spending booked so far this winter is but a couple thousand short of $7 million all in and $4,772,919.29 over budget.
Further, while the city did not roll out a full court press to deal with this past week’s two ice storms, the touts in the Quarry’s newsroom are seeing a lot of action for the final snow budget expense to run $5 million or more overbudget.
Needless to say, such a considerable running over budget surely poses considerable financial problems for the City of Quincy and most especially for local taxpayers.
Simply put, Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch has already seen locals facing dire budgetary straits before consideration of his recently announced plans to press forward on buying the former Eastern Nazarene campus in Wollaston and building an Adams Family Center and featuring a thousand person capacity meeting hall.
Net/net, figure on upwards of a couple hundred million dollars or thereabouts in bond issues needed to make these latest koched-up Edifice Complexes happen at a time when the city’s credit worthiness is under fire given a variety of ever-worsening structural deficit problems with the city’s budgets going forward given koched-up spending.on all manner of things.
