— News and commentary about elsewhere covered by Quincy Quarry News
While local snow piles continue to plague Quincy locals, local officials are concurrently continuing to violate The First Rule of Holes by variously continuing to dig themselves in deeper and deeper.
For but opening examples holes so dug include word of the City of Quincy running out of salt while concurrently running over $900,000 overbudget on snow and ice removal only but halfway through winter as well as that local streets and sidewalks arguably look more ploughed than plowed outside of Quincy Square and various other favored venues.
And yes, Quincy Quarry News must currently note that it yet again scooped its media brethren via its so far exclusive reporting that the City of Quincy both has apparently ran out of road salt as well as is already 40% over budget for snow and ice clearing for whole of this fiscal year roughly but halfway through this year’s so far near record setting frigid snow season.
Needless to say, Punxsutawney Phil is already expecting blame to be piled high on top of him even though he is but the messenger of what is looking be will be a cold, long, and so far snowy winter not of his doing.

Humina humina …

Speaking of facing blame, at Monday’s City Council meeting, the only remaining member of the mayor’s former super majority on the council tried to dig out of a hole of his own digging.
The hole?
Improperly tabling for two weeks a proposal to formalize the allowance of public comment at every city council meeting at the counsel’s previous meeting.
So what apparently for the fact that public comment is per long standing policy supposed to happen at least once a month at local city council meetings, however, such has long been koch-blocked as standard operating procedure during the well past overly long reign of the Koch Maladministration.
In any event, this boneheaded move less than successfully walked back by the bonehead as he wanted more information.
So what for the fact that his tabling of the proposal precluded him from readily receiving more information on what was straightforward proposal.
An especially straightforward — if not also easy to understand — proposal.
Also similarly dope slapped was the City Clerk over her again asserting her mistaken view as to how the city council’s Rule 23B is supposed to work.
Needless to say, such will be remembered when her current appointment as City Clerk expires soon enough.
Also needless to say, both Quincy Quarry News and its ever-growing legions of loyal readers are looking forward to seeing city officials having to explain things snow and ice at the City Council’s next meeting on Monday, January 23.
And for those who cannot wait that long, Quincy Mayor Thomas Koch will be presenting his mandatory State of the City address this coming Monday in the Quincy High School auditorium at 7pm, not that one can find any word of this major annual event on the City of Quincy’s website.
In any event, be sure to note that the State of the City is a bring your own tomatoes event.
Reasons include that Mayor Koch’s State of the City address last year did not address the state of the city.

Minimum of $600,000.00 spent on Quincy 400, $900,000.00 spent to move the ‘stone house’, $27,000,000.00 spent on the animal shelter, and so on, and so on,…
