“The School Superintendent makes the all for Snow Days not me …”

Quincy was hit with but 5 inches of light and fluffy snow midday yesterday.

The snowfall thus ended up in the middle of the forecast expectation of a three to seven inch snowfall.

Further, the fluffy modest snowfall provided a cupcake of opportunity for snow and ice clearing workers to score weekend premium pay.

Additionally, Quincy dodged a bullet similar to what struck the North Shore.

Even so, more snow is more snow even if locally the snowfall from yesterday’s storm was modest and thus freshened up the local winter outdoors Kodak moment look for locals who dare to go out today — a day that is forecast to be a sunny but still brutally cold day — as opposed to a snowfall that might give rise to a school day tomorrow

Even so, early reports indicate that the plowing has often enough been less than from one frozen solid side of the road snow pile to the frozen pile on the other side of the road, much less any reported sightings of chickens crossing roads in Quincy.

In turn, such ends up seeing already snow pile narrowed streets become even narrower for two-way traffic on both two and four lane local streets, streets which are often narrow to begin with on a number of local streets.

Further, such less wide plowing lessens the number of at least relatively safe street-side parking spaces.

Additionally note that Quincy Quarry has received as yet unconfirmed reports of the spreading of sand or a sand/salt mix in the wake of the city’s rumored running out of road salt during the major snow event two weeks ago.

Brine? What brine?

If such is the case, such poses understandable concerns as so spread sand fills up storm drain catchment basins.

Accordingly, for years only spreading road salt is standard practice as on all costs duly considered basis doing so is both cheaper as well as more effective and thus only using salt is a wide-ranging best practice when snow happens.

Needless to say, Quincy Quarry News will be letting its dogs out as soon as possible to discern if the mean and of late frozen streets of Quincy have been put on at least a low salt diet.
