Greenleaf Street on the edge of Quincy Center is seeing its sidewalks redone for a second time in the wake of a full sidewalk and street makeover completed last year per a Citizen Journalist as well as the recollection of Quincy Quarry News personnel.
So what for the fact that many other sidewalks throughout Quincy are in far worse shape, not to mention that local taxpayers have already been long hard-pressed into covering all manner of Q-ups in the Q.
Granted, perhaps this do-over is a contractor-freebie makeover given poor work done last year, such would still pose fair questions about quality control efforts by Department of Public Works’ Inspectional Services unit, especially as inspecting the laying of concrete is far from rocket science for competent building inspectors.
Further problematic is the disruption that is being imposed upon Greenleaf Street residences and businesses for an ultimately needless second time no matter who is paying for the do-over..
Then again, this is not the first time a year following that such honey boo-boo do-overs have happened.
For example, in recent years such happened with much of East Squantum Street.
Similarly, nothing is too good for Greenleaf Street no matter what the cost to local taxpayers or how interminably long it takes.

Greenleaf Street is getting its sidewalks redone—again—just a year after a full makeover. It’s almost as if the city is striving for the Guinness World Record in “Most Frequent Sidewalk Redos.”

One might wonder: Was the initial project part of a “practice run” for the Department of Public Works? Or perhaps the city believes in the mantra, “If at first you succeed, try, try again.
They do it nice, ’cause they do it twice! Or thrice, or . . .
On the other hand there are sidewalks and streets that they can’t seem to do at all.
