— Quincy Massachusetts News by Quincy Quarry News – News, Opinion and Commentary.
Quincy’s historically heretofore Teflon™ mayor continues to see things instead stick to him during at least the start of 2025.
First up, the Koch Machine has dropped both the plow as well as burned a lot of money to at best put in a mixed bag with snow clearing during a so far below average snowfall winter.
Next up, the South Shore almost daily broadsheet has twice this past week duly as well as deservedly taken the Koch Maladministration to task.
So hard hitting have been these poundings by the broadsheet that Quincy Quarry News can only properly offer up serious props to the broadsheet for stepping up to the plate and then parking the head of La Kocha Nostra’s don over the fence and into the bleachers for long ball dingers during battling practice.
Serious long ball dingers.
First up, the broadsheet kneecapped the Quincy City Council for cancelling a scheduled meeting on Monday.

“FYI — not our fault”

The reason?
Nothing to do.
Or, more correctly, nothing from the mayor to for councilors to rubber stamp.
And for an extra twisting of the knife, the broadsheet also gave serious column inches to comments about why the City Council all but invariably refuses to allow public comment on the record on their doings as well as readily argued far more often misdoings.
And then for the second half of the weekly double, the broadsheet exposéd Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch’s plans to likely spend over million with installation and extra space costs included to put statues of a couple of Roman Catholic saints inside of the impending new $172 million dollar police headquarters.

Fleece, fleeced — whatever

So much — apparently —for the formal American constitutional as well as further legal tradition of the separation of church and state, much less this specific instance of fiduciary imprudence with local taxpayers’ money.
Then again, when one is the head of the Men of Divine Mercy, what’s a million dollar fleecing on top of all of the other fleecings of local taxpayers?
Well, for starters, a million dollars of local taxpayers’ money.
Not that one would know much of any such breaking badly bad news© from the local weekly tabloid, however.
Nor from Koch Omnimedia, formerly known as Quincy Access Television, for that matter.
Not that this is anything new as regards such MIA but oh so needed coverage.
The Lord Mayor says the oversized (10′) statues of Roman Catholic Saints are not religious objects. Sorry, they are what they are. If we want saints we can visit a church.
Louie,
But, but — his Lord Mayor said that it’s all kosher as Michael is part of the Jewish, Christian, and Muslim faith traditions even if he missed the Baháʼí Faith.
So what, however, for Buddhists, Hindus and other faiths, not to mention the Establishment Clause of the US Constitution as well as those who have understandable problems with graven images and/or simply bad artwork.
Exactly.
The mayor is appallingly stupid.
Asterisk,
Grandiose narcissists are full of themselves.
His dishonor, the mayor and his made man the city council president have no respect for their constituents, but manage to keep their hands in the till.
Kathryn,
The REAL Quincy Way!!!
Further discussion” What does that mean?
Going forward, does it mean that there is an actual intention of holding city council meetings?
No one has stressed the importance of public input to any meaningful degree.
Cain and the rest of the rubber-stampers, with the exception of Minton who has voiced a REAL opinion and who Koch has sarcastically berated — are being vague to the point of telegraphing their probable support for the religious statues. DiBona “doesn’t know”. Devine thinks it’s just a change order. Campbell says: “You wouldn’t wear a new suit with old shoes” and Campbell also said. “Is that where I land on this? I don’t know.” (He doesn’t know where he stands?) And as should come as no surprise, Ward 1 Councilor McCarthy did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
Maybe the Ten Commandments would have been a better statue for the QPD. For about 200 dollars they could have enlarged two prayer cards for the two saints and had them framed to put on a wall instead of us paying $850,000 or maybe we could have purchased some small medals of these saints for our religious first responders for about $5.00 each. I also heard that Boston Mayor Wu, in an act of goodwill to Mayor Koch, is going to add statues of the 12 Apostles on the bridge to Long Island. Further, I have a call into recently installed Archbishop Richard Henning to see who is the Patron Saint of Police Details, who is the Patron Saint of inflated pensions, and if Saint Genesius is still the patron saint of clowns because the clowns at City Hall should not be left out.
If there’s a patron saint of BS, Koch should have a statue in his office.
Marie,
There is such a patron saint — the lesser known St. Crapola.
First to all the naysayers, drink the Blue Juice or you will not be saved by Tommy. He is trying to buy his way into heaven but will surely end up in purgatory, at best. All the sins will be told soon enough.
Next, these Saints will be clothed in Blue Fleece vests furnished by an unnamed Sacred Heart fleecer. After all they have to compliment the Golden Gates that are to be installed at the Cemetery entrance across the street.
Oops, you didn’t know about the Golden Gates? Wait until we get a glimpse of this waste of money. Tommy wanted Pearly Gates but they were on back order. The Blue Juice drinker know no bounds.
