The opening round of rain lingered longer than forecast and thus snowfall totals come in a bit less than was feared might happen.
Even so, both the rain and the wet snow that followed combined to make for a heavy blanket of snow upwards of six inches thick and which will surely freeze hard shortly given plummeting temperatures to well below freezing with even colder to follow tonight as well as continue until at least Thursday morning.
Accordingly, Quincy Quarry News will be hitching up the dogs to check out local roads, sidewalks, such as soon as possible after first light.
In the meanwhile Quincy Quarry News has already received disconcerting responses to this snowfall event. For example, last night around halftime for the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Raven’s playoff game Washington Street was far from well-plowed and salted.
Similarly, the Quarry has received reports of repeated whacking of manholes with snowplows such that both the truck and its driver surely taking beatings.
