Shortly after 1 pm today word hit the Quincy police radio channel of (yet) a(nother) fire alarm at Quincy’s arguably fire-prone City Hall.
Needless to say, the Quincy Quarry City Editor immediately dispatched personnel to the scene.
Not much was found, however, by Quincy Quarry personnel once on the scene.
Or at least nothing going up in flames for a change.
Other than a pick-up festooning Koch For Quincy bumper stickers was spotted leaving the scene even if it was not the Quincy Chevy Z71 pick-up truck.
Conversely, while four MBTA Transit Police cruisers were spotted on the scene, no Quincy police cruisers were noticed even though Quincy Fire Department firetrucks were seen.
Obviously, after two fire events at City Hall in recent enough years, any word of a fire at Quincy’s City Hall is all but assured immediately given DEFCON One alert as well as give rise to a similar level of response by local fire fighting assets.
That got the adrenaline pumping for all of five minutes! Just imagine the suspense: will it be a real emergency, or just City Hall’s version of ‘crying wolf’ to break up the day? Turns out it was another false alarm. Guess the excitement of city government isn’t quite hot enough to catch fire after all. Or maybe the smoke detectors are just trying to spice things up! Either way, Quincy’s drama radar stays high, even if it’s just a drill in disguise.
