Indian Summer continues to lull one into chilling before the chill of winter.
Plus, with no City Council meeting this past week Quincy Quarry is thus limited with Quarry story ops.
Fortunately, regression toward the mean happens and thus Quincy Quarry’s ever growing legions of loyal reader should thus be both patient while at the same time fearful of new as well as all but certainly expensive problems to hit the fan.
In the meanwhile, as for what of some note that did go down this week, there was some excitement.
The excitement?
A drive by shooting of another vehicle in West Quincy.
The driver of the targeted ride was hit by multiple rounds as well as ended up trapped in his ride when it then crashed.
‘
Fortunately for him, the Quincy firefighters broke out The Jaws of Life and so freed the seriously injured driver for transport to an area hospital
Next up was Quincy Quarry News/ feature about the Town of Braintree opting to settle quickly on a eight figure damages claim.
At least as far as such things go.
How the Q does this have anything to do with the City of Quincy?
First up, the City of Quincy has been appropriately sued for its easily argued malfeasant role in the wrongful sucker punching homicide on Squantum almost five years ago.
All things considered, the amount of the claim was reasonable but the Koch Maladministration looks to have played the Delay Game for so long that the sucker punching killer could well be out of prison before the lawsuit might go to trial.
In turn as well as needless to say, if things do go to trial a jury would all but assuredly hammer the City of Quincy with an even greater damages award.
Net/net, just these two Q-ups alone by the Koch Maladminstration that could as well as should have been settled years ago for around $20 million or thereabouts are now looking likely to perhaps end up leaving local taxpayers with having to instead cover upwards of a very painful $40 million nut.
Before, that is, the very real potential for additional punitive damages given all manner of woeful executive decisions.
Then again, it’s not like something running (at least) twice what it should have cost and/or was promised to cost by the Koch Machine to cost is anything new for long suffering Quincy taxpayers.
Why is it the name of a Bartender working that night has received little ink. Maybe because it was Quincy’s own Ward 6 councilor Bill Harris. Does the smell of Quincy’s dirty politics come in to play here? Mayor Koch’s puppet was pouring the drinks and banking the tips from the large crowd that evening not many people know that part of the tragic night.
