Things got off to a bad start as opposed to got off as in got lucky given word out of the MBTA that rail service on the Braintree Red Line will be replaced by even slower bus service for 24 days in September so as to endeavor to address over 20 slow zones between JFK station and Braintree stations.
How slow has Red Line rail service been on the Braintree Red Line?
Upwards of twenty-seven minutes of delays are projected to be eliminated on a round trip from Braintree to JFK station or any other further northerly Red Line Station.

Then again, such was only to be expected given that Mayor Koch has in recent years imposed property tax increases on local homeowners by roughly half again greater than most other Massachusetts municipalities.
Fortunately, this example of porking provided some comic relief for long suffering locals.
At the time, the basis for the joke is also an example of why local residential property tax bills are soaring.
The joke?
How many City of Quincy workers does it take to change a light?
