— News about Quincy Massachusetts covered by Quincy Quarry News with commentary added.
In two signs showing how just how much Quincy is changing, after 117 years in total between them of providing serious portions for reasonable money, both La Paloma Mexican food restaurant and the primarily a hearty breakfast hash house Wheelhouse Diner are calling it a day today.
While there are rumors that the Wheelhouse will be reborn elsewhere in a new venue given a dispute with its landlord over its many decades’ long location, North Quincy is pretty much down to local jewel Burke’s Sea Food for affordable fresh seafood offerings and Cathay Pacific for large portions for short money as longtime North Quincy neighborhood dining mainstays as well as thus both favorite haunts for Quincy Quarry News bored and staph meetings.
At the same, even more disconcerting are rumblings of recent plans to buy Cathy Pacific and then redevelop the site for yet another posterior ugly large apartment complex.
Needless to say, as Cathy Pacific is Quincy Quarry’s go to option for extended liquid lunch meetings, Quincy Quarry’s ever-growing legions of loyal readers can count on the Quarry to monitor the status of Cathy Pacific and reports any updates as might be appropriate..
I’ve been to all of them, they are wonderful. And I’m a fully experienced foodie as evidenced by my expansive waistline.
Burke’s has the best fried clams, forget the Clambox and the other joint on the drive by the ocean. Get yourself some golden-fried clams in clean Canola oil at Burke’s.
And at Cathay they know how to pour it on at the bar if you know what I mean. Hope to see you there soon!
I think those are amazing restaurants, and the food was really good. Hate to see them go!
