The Weekly Fish wrap took the week off last week.
In a showing of accountability not practiced by the Koch Maladministration, the Quarry staffer tasked with writing last week’s Fsh Wrap freely admits to nodding off leading up to the publication deadline as last week was wicked quiet.
This past week, however, ran hot and heavy all week as well as most especially in ways hard on the Koch Machine, if not also most especially so for Quincy’s peerless leader.
Things got off with a bang and not in a good way with word scooped by NBC 10 that Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch appears to have tried to quietly put a City of Quincy department head on paid suspension on Friday over suspected improprieties.
That and surely hope to work the quiet weekend news cycle.
Particularly tough surely was that the suspended department head is one of mayor’s inner circle of BFF’s.
Suspected to be also be tough, if not a lot tougher soon enough, is that an outside forensic audit of the book is underway .
Additionally, one of mayor’s sisters was long the suspended department head’s next in command until she retired in recent years and such only peaks curiosity as well as wet wagging tongues.
For example, tongues are already wagging about how this very same mayoral sister was at last report living in public housing for qualifying low income seniors.
Housing that former city employees and especially by those with family ties to city officials were long proscribed from scoring residence.
Then again, in Quincy the rules are more what you call guidelines than actual rules.
Next up was the mayor’s variously conflicted as well as unqualified so-called outside report proposing that Mayor Koch see his current $151,000 annual salary double or more to as much as somewhere between $299.000 and $370,000 hit the fan.
Needles to say, the proposal was met with considerable as well as pointed media coverage, not to mention even more pointed social media rebuke.
So what — apparently — for the fact that a raise to within the proposed range would make him one of the most well-paid to the highest paid mayor in the country.
That and not only a lot more than Boston Mayor Michelle Wu but also at least 35% more than what Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey is paid.
But what the hey, a guy has gotta eat.
And for the final and well as especially ugly part of the trifecta that hit the fan this past week: the release of a long awaited as well as properly commissioned report on the admitted by a Quincy Police detective to have initiated sexting with a woman with mental and socio-emotional deficiencies, a detective who is the son of a somewhat recently retired Quincy police chief.
The police dick is also surely but coincidentally the nephew of Quincy Mayor Tom Koch as the mayor and the former police chief are brothers-in-law.
The dick is also the nephew by blood of State Senator John Keenan (D, Quincy).
In short as well as yet again, “Only in Quincy.”
In any event, the sexter all but immediately resigned from his out on paid suspension from his job as a Quincy police officer when the long awaited was released and recommended his termination.
Will wonders never cease?
